Geisha's Little $ecret
芸 者
"Geisha" consists of two kanji, 芸 (gei) meaning "art" and 者 (sha) meaning "person" or "doer". The most literal translation of Geisha into English would be "artist", "performing artist", or "artisan". GEISHA are skilled/extremely elegant artisans, trained in and performing music and dance. Men who organised Ozashiki's (parties in tea houses) often took their wife and geisha along. It was a prestige and granted status to the parties at that time.
